Still frosty in the morning?( Core temp below 98)
Cold Cores Now Here This!
A Deeper Understanding of Core Temperatures
Throttled thyroid Assaulted adrenals
If you’re not feeling quite up to par, take your temperature. Not to determine if you’ve got a fever – rather, temperatures reflect an individual’s metabolic energy state. The average daytime temperature of a healthy individual is 98.6 thus making 98.6 the optimal (as opposed to normal*) temperature. Lower than optimal temperatures reflect a lower than optimal metabolic state which is usually controlled by the thyroid mechanism. Wide variability of temperature reflects an unstable or fatigued adrenal system. Thus, on the road to health, one wants to go from low and/or unstable temperatures to 98.6 and stable if possible.
Thermal activity reflects metabolic activity. A low temperature means low metabolism and vice versa. For example, the temperature typically found in someone who is old, frail, pale and weak is low and typically ranges from 95 to 97 degrees if no infection is present. A healthy person will have an average temperature of 98.6 degrees, but may have a 100 degree or higher temperature in a hyperthyroid state or as high as a 104 to 105 degree temperature if there is a fever present these are high metabolic states.
Wide variability in daily temperatures indicates a weak adrenal function since the adrenal glands help the body maintain stability. Good adrenal function produces a stable temperature. As adrenal function improves, the temperature variability decreases and vice versa. As adrenals get stressed (either from emotional stress, excess metabolic stimulation such as excessive thyroid stimulation, or for other reasons), the variability increases.
In a hypothyroid state, the day-to-day averages are low and very stable. In a hypoadrenal state including adrenal exhaustion or adrenal stress, the temperatures are low and unstable — one day they may average 96 degrees and one to two degrees higher the next day.
If the temperature graph is the road map, the explanatory notes are the road signs. Without them, the pattern changes become very difficult to interpret. These notes provide context for the temperature data. They also reveal what components of the treatment program are working and what components or other factors are not.
So What do we do?
The one thing you now know is that you are dealing with a Throttled thyroid gland( consistently low care temperatures in the morning) or an Assaulted Adrenal gland( fluctuations of early morning temperatures trending towards the low end below 98).
Step One: Remove all endocrine suppressors from your environment
Top five endocrine suppressors
- Soy: look in your body lotions, shampoos, drugs, and foods for the nasty stuff.
- Caffeine: not so obvious sources for the thyroid throttling substance are energy drinks, headache medications, and body lotions,
- Fluoride
- Cruciferous vegetables/fruits: Pears, Peaches, Broccoli, cauliflower, kale
- Pharmaceuticals/Vitamins: A growing group medications including glucocorticoids, dopamine agonists, somatostatin analogs and rexinoids affect thyroid function through suppression of TSH in the thyrotrope or hypothalamus. Avoid antidepressants, blood pressure medications, pain killers and anti-inflammatories if you continue to have low core temperature. Never take Vitamin A supplements if you have a low core temperature.
MBC Adjustments for Low Cores
- Hang a Bag of ginseng in your Blade. Supplement with Ginseng throughout the day
- Modified MBC Ice Coffee Inferno: remove the coffee and replace it with 3 oz. of coconut milk, 2 TBSP coconut oil, and 3oz of almond milk. Mix in your whey protein powder and way you go
- Fire Starter Sweet Potatoes: Create MBC metabolic paste. Blend ½ cup Irish butter with ½ cup almond butter add 1 tsp Saigon Cinnamon. Blend until creamy. Cook 5 non GMO sweet potatoes( creates 5 lunchs). After you have bake the SP stuff them with your MBC paste and store in a Rubbermaid or Tupperware container. Heat on low and serve for breakfast or lunch. Do not eat this for dinner.
- Protein Islands are a must at 10 am and 3 pm to prevent a “sugar swing” or an adrenal crash consider administering an MBC protein island:
- Dopamine driven ?: Consider increasing your tyrosine upgrade to two tablespoons in your morning Metabolic accelerator.
You can use ½ of a Pure Protein bar( all others MBC has investigated are full of soy) at 10 and 3. You can create the modified Ice Coffee Inferno the Cold cores use and drink half at 10 and half at 4 as a snack. Carry a can of almonds( unsalted if you are an Accumulator) or a can of walnuts and take a handful at 10 and a handful at 3 pm.
Dementia and Thyroid disease:
Are you Designed for Dementia?
One in three people over 65 will die with dementia.
Throttled Thyroid and low core temps are linked to dementia
One in three people over 65 will die with dementia. One of our main goals at MBC is to make sure that you and your family are not that one!
TSH levels below 1.0 or above 2.1 double your risk of dementia
Under normal conditions beta amyloid plaque is opsonized by the immune system and removed from the brain by microglia and monocytes (Travis, 1999). Thyroid hormones play a significant role in the production and survival of microglia (Lima et al., 2001; Mallet et al., 2002). Lima et al (2001) reported that artificially induced hypothyroidism among rodents showed markedly less microglial density and processing when compared to euthyroid controls. Since neuronal and astroglial cells are targets of thyroid hormone, lack of this hormone may create an environment unable to support development, differentiation, and survival of microglial cells due to a lack of growth factor secretion from developing neurons and astrocytes. Thus, the effects of insufficient thyroid hormone may be indirect. This thesis is supported by Mallet, et al. (2002) who found microglial processes to be promoted by the presence of T3 in vitro.
It is crucial for your brain to function optimally that your thyroid functions optimally .One of our primary goals at MBC is to “dementia-proof” your entire family by slowing the decay rate of your brain tissue.
These protocol have not been evaluated by the FDA nor are they condoned by the AMA.
