Blood Sugar Struggles?

Smashing Through the Wall To Weight Loss

Do you wake up with a blood glucose level that’s higher than when you went to bed?

Is this dawn phenomenon serious and what can you do about it?

How can glucose levels go up without even eating anything?

Likely a mild case of dawn phenomenon is responsible in which glucose is raised by factors other than digested food. The liver produces glucose from stored starch and fatty acids. Livers that produce too much glucose are one of the main ways diabetes causes high blood glucose levels.

Organs do this to keep blood glucose from going too low at night or other times of not eating. While you sleep, from about 2 AM to 8 AM, most people’s bodies produce hormones, including cortisol, glucagon, and epinephrine. All these hormones increase insulin resistance and tell the liver to make more glucose. Ideally your body should produce just enough glucose to get you out of bed and start the day. The whole process is apparently started by growth & youth hormones which we want to enhance via the application of the PM formula.

Dawn phenomenon of elevated waking blood sugars can be serious…very serious. According to the American Diabetes Association, “People with dawn phenomenon find that their glucose continues to rise until they eat in the morning. For others, levels will settle down a few hours after waking, regardless of whether or not they eat. Either way, that can be a long time to spend with elevated blood glucose levels.”

The Dangers of Triple Digit Blood Sugars

1.Cancer has a sweet tooth!

Cancer cells metabolize 21 times the amount of sugar than their neighboring non cancer healthy cells. PET scan take advantage of this fact by applying a radioactive atom to glucose (blood sugar) to create a radionuclide called fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG), because the cancer cells crave glucose (21 times stronger affinity for sugar) for its metabolism. Cancer cells light up like Christmas trees on the PET scan as they gobble up the radioactive sugar.

2.Distal neuropathy affects the hands and feet and is the most common form of metabolic neuropathy. It usually affects both hands or both feet, but may affect only one hand or foot (and is commonly misdiagnosed as carpal tunnel syndrome). Save yourself a surgery and the big bills that follow by fixing your early morning sugar struggles.

3.Metabolic amyotrophy affects the nerves in the thighs and may be present in one or both legs. Do you have pain when raising from your desk chair? Triple digit blood sugars are the most common cause of chronic leg and hip pain in my office. The second most common cause of weakness and pain in the legs, hips and back is the side effects of statins intended to lower cholesterol–but which I believe to be a cause of elevated blood sugar levels–leading the patient right into full blown diabetes!

4.Gastroparesis affects the nerves in the stomach, preventing it from emptying as it should. Food that is not absorbed normally can cause malnutrition and hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) and eventually hyperglycemia (high blood sugar) when the meal is finally digested. The condition can also cause vomiting, bloating and pain in the stomach. Accumulator, if you fix the blood sugar issue you will finally achieve a Magnificent Metabolic Movement.

5.Metabolic diarrhea can occur when the nerves in the small intestine are affected. If the nerves in the large intestine are damaged, constipation may result. Additionally, if nerves affecting the sphincter muscles in the rectum are involved, stool may be passed without warning. Dumpers, if you fix the blood sugar issue you may lose your status as a Dumper!

6.Neuropathy of the bladder can occur when the nerves that bring sensation from the bladder and control it no longer function properly, allowing urine to stay in the bladder. The condition can lead to urinary tract infections. Ladies, are you continually waking up at night to urinate? Fix the sugar struggles and you may just end up fixing the bladder battles.

7.Charcot joint may occur if the bones in the feet develop fractures and the foot becomes misaligned. The condition can be painless because nerves were damaged from diabetes before the fracture developed. The foot or feet may then lose muscle support, eventually becoming deformed. Maybe it wasn’t your high heel ladies that trashed your feet…maybe it’s you blood sugar levels.

8.Foot drop, an inability to pick up the foot, may occur if nerve and muscle damage is present.

9.Postural hypotension (low blood pressure when standing) can occur when nerves are damaged and cannot compensate for the rise in blood pressure. Fainting or dizziness can result.

10.Metabolic Retinopathy (Eye Disease)

Approximately 12,000-24,000 people with triple digit blood sugar levels lose their eyesight each year because of damage to the small blood vessels in the retina. The retina is the light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye. People with diabetes are also at higher risk of developing cataracts (loss of transparency in the lenses of the eyes) and glaucoma (excessive pressure of fluid in the eye).

In metabolic retinopathy, the blood vessels in the retina weaken and may leak fluid onto the macula, the area in the eye that allows precise vision. The macula then swells, blurring vision. If the disease progresses, new fragile blood vessels can grow along the retina (called proliferative retinopathy) that also leaks blood, eventually causing serious hemorrhage, scarring and retinal damage leading to poor vision and even blindness.

Yearly eye exams are recommended for people with triple digit blood sugars. Treatment with laser surgery or vitrectomy has a high success rate (90 percent) but only if permanent damage has not occurred to the retina.

11.Diabetic Nephropathy (Kidney Disease)

An estimated 28,000 people with triple digit blood sugars develop kidney failure each year because of damage, over time, to the kidney’s sensitive filtering system, which removes waste products from blood. Eventually, the kidneys lose their ability to perform this vital function and patients must rely on dialysis or a kidney transplant.

Uncontrolled high blood pressure (hypertension) also can damage the kidneys, presenting a double whammy for patients with triple digit blood sugar. People with uncontrolled triple digit early morning blood sugars should have blood and urine tests annually to check for early signs of kidney disease.

12.Triple digit blood sugars in the morning quadruple your chance of stroke or heart attack

Heart and blood vessel disease are the most common long-term complications of uncontrolled diabetes. High glucose levels in the blood damage blood vessels by making the walls of the vessels thicker.

As a result, blood has a harder time passing through them. My theory of why this happens is that elevated blood sugar causes extra H ions (acid) to accumulate in the blood and “flip” the polarity (electrical charge) on the lipids (cholesterol/triglycerides)

Flipping Lipids: (verb) the theoretical “flipping” of the polarity of blood cholesterol by the acidification of the blood itself causing the lipid molecule to move from a negatively charged particle to a positively charged particle thus increasing its tendency to “stick” to the negatively charged arterial walls.

This “flipping” is why people on statins with insanely low cholesterol levels are still dropping dead like flies from heart disease. The main purpose of the early morning oral prep (MBC Tooth paste) and the Metabolic Blade used during MBC is to keep the blood-brain-body acid levels in a homeostatic balance–theoretically preventing the lipids from “flipping” even after eating a triple burger with cheese and large fry!

13.Metabolic ketoacidosis

Ketoacidosis occurs from a lack of insulin, primarily in people with triple digit blood sugars. Without insulin, the body breaks down fat instead of metabolizing sugar properly for energy. The process produces ketones, which are dangerous byproducts of fat, similar in chemical composition to acetone, which is found in solvents. The ketones turn the blood more acidic, which can be a life-threatening condition.

Because ketones are released in urine, a simple urine test can detect their presence. Our MBCrs learn that the smell of their urine can indicate the chemical condition of the fluid they are excreting. During detox some of you discovered that you had an enzyme that protects you from accelerated heart disease by the smell of your urine after you ate asparagus.

If our urine smells sickly sweet or fruity it means we have processed a lot of fat that day as fuel (good) or that we are entering metabolic ketoacidosis (bad) . Diabetic ketoacidosis must often be treated in the hospital with insulin and intravenous fluids. The person must get treatment immediately to avoid lapsing into a coma.

14.Sugar coma

This condition occurs primarily in people with blood sugars spiking over 150 mg/dl. It is caused from a reduced level of insulin and increased insulin resistance that cause blood sugar to rise dangerously high. Unlike the condition ketoacidosis, high acid levels in the blood are usually not present. However, dehydration may be present and may be serious.

Hyperosmolar coma is treated in the hospital with a small amount of insulin and intravenous fluids. The person must get treatment immediately to avoid lapsing into a coma.

Insulin Institution: (noun) state of an individual that is unable to reach and maintain the optimal blood sugar zones (77-82 mg/dl) we recommend for tumor and fat cell reduction. Early exposure to elevated levels of insulin has changed these people at their metabolic core making them very susceptible to dementia, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, breast cancer, pancreatic cancer, and liver cancer.

How do I know if I am stuck in an Insulin Institution?

  • Do you crave sugar?
  • Do you become moody when you haven’t eaten for awhile?
  • Do you have triple digit Early Morning blood sugars?
  • Do you have dark circles under your eyes that come and go throughout the day? Sign of being bound in an Insulin Institution…
  • Lift your hair off your shoulders and use a small mirror to observe the nape or back of your neck. Do you have a dark ring around your neck?
  • Do you have reddening, cracks, or crust at the seam where your ear meets your head?
  • Do your feet ever go numb? Are your big toes (first digits) angling in towards the central part of your foot (look at bare feet)? Do you suffer from bunions?
  • Measure your waistline and hips. If your waist line is larger than your hips you have signs of Insulin Institution.

But What Can I Do About My Insulin Issues?

You must learn the language of MBC and become skillful at assessing what is traumatizing your pancreas and liver. Take a moment to review these strange but incredibly important terms to unlock the door of this invisible prison.

The Sugar Swing: (verb) a movement in blood sugar reading on a standard glucometer of greater than 30 points (mg/dl) in either direction causing major mental and metabolic disruptions.

Toxic Trauma Response (TTR): (noun) violent spiking of blood sugars, tissue acid levels, histamine levels and acute inflammation(bloat) of the GI tract in response to a consumed, perceived or actual threat to the overall system. TTR is most commonly caused by a non-caloric source–pain, poisonous stress or people.

The Foggy Bonnet Phenomena: (Noun) depression of frontal lobe functions in response to a sugar swing from a TTR. Person feels significant mental fatigue, poor cognitive recall, and a sensation of mental heaviness commonly mistaken for depression.

The Sugar Squat: (verb) a sequence of lower body muscular contractions used in conjunction with a sublingual full blood-lymphatic deacidifying process created in MBC to “reset” the early morning hormonal pivot point to maximize both tumor tissue reduction and fat cell facilitation.

Glazed Brain Syndrome: (noun) state of a heavily glycosylated (sugar coated) neuron which slows the impulse transfer occurring at the neuronal junctions. This syndrome is commonly experienced after a Toxic Trauma Response. If left uncorrected theoretically this could lead to early cognitive decline (Early Onset Dementia).

The Sugar Swing: (verb) the movement in blood sugar reading (on a standard glucometer) of greater than 30 points (mg/dl) in either direction causing major mental and metabolic disruptions.

MBC Metabolic Pivot Point: (noun) a theoretical measurement of both cellular pH and blood sugars, taken in the early mornings,f thus setting the hormonal tone for the entire day. This “pivot point” is crucial for people interested in tumor tissue reduction and/or fat loss over the following 19 to 23 hours.

It is absolutely critical that you keep your blood sugars in the 72 to 82 range!

Testimonial of Escaping the Insulin Institution

I quit this program!” a patient told me. She went on to share the following:

“Just like in every other effort to lose weight and get healthy, I observe others around me dropping weight with very little effort and feeling great. As for myself, maximum effort yields minimum results and I forfeit any hope of success the second I cheat.

My husband is down 35 lbs and he is not even on the program! He eats like a pig, but he drinks Dr. Tom’s ‘pink drink’ and feels like Superman! “

“So I quit, just like I quit every other program! However, something kept replaying in my mind, Dr. Tom, which you said in the MBC seminar, ‘Some of you are trapped in an Insulin Institution. You can literally starve yourself and end up gaining weight. No matter what you do until you escape this invisible prison, you will never lose weight and obtain a transformational healing.'”

“That’s it!” she exclaimed. “I was trapped in this invisible prison. I began the specific protocols you provide in MBC to escape. My blood sugars began to creep down from 147, to 123, to 114, and 98. You said my goal was to reach the optimal range for blood balancing of 77mg-82mg. I haven’t quite achieved that yet, but I am feeling better and better. My pain levels have dropped significantly. I have dropped only a few pounds so far, but my energy levels are coming back!”

“I went to the doctor and he observed that the cataracts in my eyes may be dissolving! Dr. Tom, you were right! I didn’t have to wait to drop 100 pounds to receive my healing, but that hundred pounds IS going …after I escape the Insulin Institution. Thank you for showing me the keys to unlock this terrible invisible prison that I believe millions of women are trapped within!”

Dr. Tom’s Insulin Institution Story

My early morning blood sugars were running in the high 120s. So I decided changes were necessary.

At bedtime, I began taking PM Detox with bubble wrap upgrades. I had a late night snack of five 3 inch celery stalks stuffed full of almond butter (do not use the traditional peanut butter since it is inflammatory).

In the morning I would perform a Sugar Squat as I brushed my teeth with Metabolic toothpaste. I have a sonic toothbrush that is pre-set for a two minute cleaning (this times the Sugar Squat for me). I then measured my blood sugar levels– wow down to 78! I am ready for some serious mental gymnastics, light speed healing factors, and frying body fat at this level!

I ate a Carb converter breakfast which worked well for my body type. At 10am, 2pm, and 4 pm I found an area where I could perform 2 minute sessions of my sugar squat in private. I adjusted my lunch from strawberries and cottage cheese to a whey protein shake mixed in water. My dinner typically would be metabolic chicken wings. My average blood sugar hovered around 82! Great day for creativity and my waistline went down an inch! I repeated this cycle for 5 days. On my cheat/weekend days I enjoyed my meals, but still performed early morning sugar squats while brushing teeth.

How to Escape the Insulin Institution Yourself

Tracking your “toxin/poison responses” using your glucometer is critical for finding the keys to escape your invisible prison!

Here is how to interpret your readings:

In MBC you track early morning and bedtime blood sugars as well as “15 minute after eating” blood sugars to identify your enzymatic weaknesses and strengths.

So what do all these numbers mean?

We are looking for patterns, spikes, valleys, and swings that indicate if one of your cellular kingdoms (blood, brain, body) has been assaulted. Critical information!

A wise physician taught me that every patient’s blood pressure had a hidden message buried within its empirical numbers. Consider this blood pressure: 148/78 Beats Per Minute 88.

To you and I, this reading might suggest hypertension, but there is another possibility. Now look at this number as human blood pressure= BRAIN/BODY BPM= BLOOD system health.

This mentor taught me that the top number indicated the brain’s response to perceived internal and external stimulus/stresses. The reason behind what clinicians call “white coat” syndrome. If the upper number is elevated, this suggests over activity in the amygdaloid (fear/fight) complex of the left hemisphere.

Instead of placing this person on a beta blocker, if the left hemisphere syndrome is addressed (by Brain Bubble wrapping) the problem will be corrected. In this case it wasn’t blood pressure elevation that was represented, but rather “brain” pressure (nerves) that were manifesting as pathological blood pressure.

The lower number in reading is indicative of the actual tissue texture of the arterial system and cardiac pump. Reach up and feel your ear. It should be soft and pliable not stiff and rigid. This is true of your arteries as well.

Do your gums bleed when you floss? Are they weak, swollen and inflamed? They shouldn’t be. The tissues of your gums are embryonically associated with the tissues of your heart. If your gums are inflamed and fragile, then so is your cardiac tissue. As the lower number (diastolic) increases so does the stiffness, inflammation levels, and blockages of the arterial system of your heart.

So in other words, the lower number of your blood pressure indicates the texture and tissue quality of your heart and arteries, while the upper number indicates the neurological health of the brain and parasympathetic nervous system controlling the heart and arterial systems.

Your resting heart rate is given in terms of beats per minute. A resting heart rate above 80 beats per minute indicates that the patient’s body has a diminished ability of red blood cells to carry oxygen and energy (results in anemia, low hemoglobin, or low Albumin levels). A resting heart rate below 50 beats per minute trends towards thyroid dysfunction, assaulted adrenals, or low testosterone.

In MBC we are working on maximizing your hemoglobin levels and enhancing your platelet performance. As your hemoglobin levels improve your resting heart rate, you will reduce that upper number of blood pressure reading.

Our goal for resting heart rate is 60 beats per minute. Resting heart rates above this indicate the patient’s blood is out of balance and is having difficultly “carrying” life giving oxygen to the tissues.

All these numbers are affected adversely by the foods we eat and the resulting elevating of blood sugar levels. Blood sugar levels above 100 negatively affect our body’s capacity to “bubble wrap” our brains from the external world stressors.

Physically, triple digit blood sugar levels “thicken” the blood much like flour thickens cake batter. This increases the force our hearts need to exert to push this thickened blood sludge through our pipes.

Elevated high blood sugars also “flip the lipid” polarity causing the lipids (fats) to magnetize to the sides of arteries. This will increase the lower number of your reading substantially. One very real day to day result of elevated blood sugar levels is the increase of inflammation in joints and arteries in which increases your pain. This in turn elevates blood sugar further. A very bad cycle.

The Sweet Slaughter of the American Family

  • After ingesting a 20 oz. soda, pop, or cola the following occurs:
  • Lowers your immune function to that of a late stage AIDS patient for five hours
  • Doubles your urinary output of calcium causing your cartilage and bones to become brittle as well as forming renal stones
  • Cancerous rats that were given liquid sugar (soda) had a 100% mortality rate where as cancerous rats placed on sugar prohibited diets all survived and a majority had “spontaneous” remission of their cancer.
  • Depresses your frontal lobe or “moral creative” lobe allowing your impulsive lobe to control your behavior patterns
  • After drinking a soda your blood “thickens” increasing likelihood of blood clots
  • You cripple the liver’s ability to maintain a healthy “blood environment” leading to clot formations.
  • You acidify your body decreasing the tissue pH leading to a weakened cellular environment
  • You “spike” your insulin which feeds tumors and fats cells. It also cripples night time youth hormone release.
  • Supersize sodas are leading to increased diabetes which can result in limb amputations. Soda is dangerous to your health!
  • Chronic exposure to Triple digit blood sugar levels is why we look so old. Take a look at our kids and tell me I’m wrong. 15 years with heart disease. ACL tears and fractures at an all time high in our young athletes. Our kids being made feeble and old by our society of filthy foods. MBC isn’t for you! It’s for your entire family!

Pain, Poison, People

So, you thought it was only food that was elevating your blood sugars! I wish it was that easy. The young lady that wrote to me earlier in this discussion first had to learn it was not her food choices that were keeping her trapped in her Insulin Institution. She had significant pain in her life as a person close to her was in crisis, unknowingly poisoning her. All of these external variables were locking her into her invisible prison.

Pain

Pain elevates blood sugar levels by overstimulating the thalamic system (pain centers). You must learn to control your pain without the use of pharmaceuticals. Drugs may reduce your conscious experiences of pain but do not stop the body’s response to pain.

Just because you do not feel the pain does not mean your brain centers are not being bombarded by pain signals. This causes the regions of the brain dedicated to pain to become over activate, even when there is no pain, causing a continuous release of stress hormones. This elevates blood sugar, cueing your body to release insulin, ultimately increasing your weight.

So what can you do?

First, stop taking drugs for pain. Next use the natural pain killing process we recommend in MBC (see recipes below for Dr. Tom’s Pain Formulas for daytime and evening. Finally, hypersaturate the stems cells of the tissues that are expressing the pain. Find an excellent wellness physician that can help you handle physical pain without drug use.

If you can safely bathe in a tub, soak in a 115 degree detox bath of Epsom salts and Apple Cider Vinegar for 20 minutes. Continue to monitor your blood sugars in the morning and at night to assess the effectiveness of your program. Remember, for optimal healing rates and converting fat to energy, you must strive to stabilize your blood sugars between 77-82 mg/dl.

Poison

Common drugs linked to the “poison response” are antidepressants, anti-anxiety drugs, antibiotics, acetaminophen, statins, anti-inflammatories, and antihistamines. If you suspect one of your drugs is spiking your blood sugar perform a toxicological examination on the suspected culprit.

  • Do not take drink any of your blends until your self test is over, since they can mask how your body would handle toxins and give you a false sugar reading.
  • Take a baseline blood sugar reading.
  • Next take the drug on an empty stomach. Do not eat or drink anything.
  • Retake your blood sugar after 30 minutes. You are looking for a sugar swing of greater than 30 points which indicates your body was traumatized at a cellular level and responded by activating the “threat system “of your Central Nervous System.

People

Purging people from your life is much more difficult. In many cases we have very little control over the pathologies of others. Focus on “bubble wrapping” your brain to blunt the negative manifestations in the body and blood of a traumatized limbic (emotional) system. You will discover massive spikes in blood sugars will be caused by negative interactions with others. If you do not learn to blunt the “poison response” and bubble wrap your brain, then your co-worker can cause cancer and your marital stress will make you fat. (Recipes below)

Recording Blood Sugars and TTRs

1. Carry your glucometer MBC monitor with you all the time to monitoring toxic trigger responses (TTR)

2. Soak you hand in warm water prior to testing to increase blood flow to fingers if you have any trouble getting a drop to use in testing. Use the side of the pad of thumb close to nail to minimize pain in testing. Fingertips are not the best choice as they become tender. Ladies with artificial nails, the tips of your fingers tend to be breeding ground for virus and bacteria (artificial nail wearers tend to have large portions of their brains eroding faster than usual due to the low levels of sensory input from the finger tip receptor sites).

What Does a Toxic Trigger Response Look Like?

When I am taking a patient through our metabolic process I teach them how to use a glucometer to uncover what I refer to as the Toxic Trauma response. It is my belief that if a patient challenged with metastatic cancer can keep their blood sugars within 77-82 mg/dl, then they have a better chance of containing the growth and spread of the cancer.

I had the privilege to be a very small part of an amazing young man’s victory over aggressive metastatic cancer.

As he applied what you are learning in MBC, he began to turn the tides on the tsunami of cancer crashing through his blood brain and body. He was meticulous in his data collection (tissue pH, blood sugars, etc.) He was consistent with the applications of the metabolic weapons we provided him. The metabolic momentum had flipped in his favor. However, as we reviewed his carefully recorded data, I became irritated with him when I saw a large sugar spike! Surely he must have cheated on his protocols?

“Listen to me,” I said, “Yes, you are turning this situation around, but this is no time to get sloppy with MBC protocols to maintain glucose levels!”

He listened to me with a confused look for a moment, then appeared a bit irritated.

“What are you talking about?” the young man retorted, “I am doing everything my doc (oncologist) and you are telling me to do!”

I pointed to a place on his chart where blood sugar levels had spiked to over 300!

“You must have cheated with a triple decker brownie!” “Right here at 1:17 pm on Thursday!” I said.

“Dr. Baader I did NOT cheat!” the poor young fellow responded, “That reading was right in the middle of my mega dose chemotherapy session!”

I felt terrible for assuming he had made a poor food choice! There is no sugar in chemotherapy drugs. Why on earth did the patient’s blood sugars spike so violently? Then I began to observe more of these “spikes” in blood sugar that were not related to food what so ever. Some were coming from chemotherapy sessions, some during a negative interaction with a coworker or spouse, still others during an acute episode of pain. What was going on here?

I call it the Toxic Trauma Response (TTR). Any perceived threat on your brain, body, or blood will cause a violent spiking in blood sugars from the activation of the sympathetic nervous system and the release of epinephrine/norepinephrine from the adrenal glands.

Where does the blood sugar come from, if not from food? One answer is the storage reserves found within our liver and muscles. Our body responds to elevated blood sugars by releasing the fat creating hormone, insulin. This is how your spouse is making you fat, your coworker is growing your cancer, and your chronic back pain is giving you dementia. When you are stressed or upset numerous times over a long period, the result is often weight gain.

I began looking for a way to support my patients through unavoidable life stressors–a “bubble wrapping” formula that any patient under chronic emotional, physical, or chemical stress can apply to prevent the negative manifestations of this Toxic Trauma response. You had better learn to “bubble wrap” your brain before you go into these tough situations or you will feed cancer cells, accelerate dementia decay, and end up “bubble wrapping” your abdomen with centralized obesity fat cells.
